Good Times with Teen Writers

This morning I had the very great pleasure of visiting a summer workshop for teen writers offered through a local university. It was great to feel the enthusiasm of these next-gen writers.

They wanted to hear about my journey to becoming a writer, and then we had a quick pre-publication reading from Dragon Ascending (with permission from my publisher) and a Q&A session. So fun!

Someday I will start remembering to have people take pictures of me doing All The Things, but today I forgot (much sadness). I did, however, have at least the presence of mind to snap a quick photo of Jennifer Jenkins getting her teaching mojo on. I love that she does so much to pay it forward for these young writers.

Keep writing, you guys!

P. S. In case you can't read Jen's slide, here is what this one says:

If I had a dollar for every time I felt more emotion for a fictional character than people in real life, I could pay for the psychiatric help I obviously need.

I love it. I love it a lot.
